New Episode of the (title pending) Movie Podcast!!

It’s another episode of the (title pending) Movie Podcast with Tank and Fogs!!

Except… Tank’s not with us this week…

So, instead, we called in a pinch hitter! FMR Regular and fellow UnderScoopFire.com contributor Jason “SockofFleagulls” Gross!

Jason runs a music and nostalgia blog at Rediscoverthe80s.com and for a WHILE now we’ve been discussing putting together a podcast that would discuss the relationship between popular music and movies.

And now the moment is here at last, with this episode of the (title pending) Movie Podcast! After I quick hit the three big releases of the week (“Man on a Ledge”, “One for the Money”, and “The Grey”) Jay and I break down some history behind pop music and the movies, discuss some of our songs we can’t hear without thinking of the film, and then break down the Best Selling Soundtracks of all time.

And finally, in an epic bit… we unleash “The Finger in the Throat Trifecta”. Oh yes. ;)

It’s a great podcast, it was a ton of fun to record, you’ll love it so check it out! As always, you can download it from buzzsprout here or find us on iTunes (PLEASE leave us a review if you do!)

Give it a listen and then swing back to this week’s Tossin’ It out There (below) to tell us what YOUR favorite movie music is!

  1. This was awesome, nice job gentlemen! I really enjoyed all of those great 80′s songs, yes and the titanic theme too, all the funny sound effects. This was really great. Thank you Dan!!

  2. I was up in the old balcony at work…cleaning out boxes of old financials and other paperwork while I listened to this podcast. (I was a bit disappointed it didn’t last as long as the clean up job did….hahaha)

The conversation was great, a lot of fun. I have blocked out the song from Titanic as I would rather drown than listen to it again in its entirety! Although impressed with your vocal range, I am glad you ended the song when you did. ;)

Can’t believe I forgot about Grease, My four girls can recite every word and sing every song in that movie. They love it! A side note: Mommy failure moment….. I never really thought about how inappropriate this movie was until my, then 7 year old, stood on our picnic table and started in at the top of her lungs…”Get your filthy paws off my silky drawers…..” (you remember how the rest goes)

The Volleyball scene in Top Gun was the best thing to ever be filmed…… wait, there was music too? ;)

Jay, you did a great job as guest host! I will have to check out your blog. But I did want to mention one thing…….take a look at the first two responses…….Chicks dig Fogs and Tank. :)

      • Still thinking about which movie songs I like and keep coming back to the Clueless soundtrack. For me there was a lot of great stuff on that one. I liked “Fashion” by David Bowie, “Kids in America” Ricki and Marty Wilde, “Just a Girl” Gwen Stefani!!, “Shoop” Salt n Pepa, and especially “We’re Alright” by Supergrass.
When I hear those songs it brings me back to that time, to that movie, reminds me of spring, makes me wanna brush my teeth, “I’ve got teeth, nice and clean!”
Oh! I don’t want to forget “Rollin’ with my Homies” also from that soundtrack.
I’m rollin’ with my homegirls on this one :)

      • I can tell you must be a big fan of that movie. LOL. Knowing you, that doesn’t surprise me in the least ;)

Did you not see that this is this week’s discussion thread topic? Not that I care that its here and not there, but maybe you didnt see that thread and would like to… It’s below this one. :)

      • Hahaha! Thank you :)
I did see it but I must have just replied to this one.
Alas, I will try harder next time to follow along.
But yes, you’re right, I loved that movie! It hit all the right notes for me as I’m sure it did for you too, right? Hahaha :) Joking! Joking!
