New Episode of The (title pending) Movie Podcast with Tank and Fogs!

Welcome Back… Your dreams were your ticket out…Welc– Oh! Sorry.

TANK IS BACK!!

(I literally just made like tank noises over here like I was Capt. &$%#ing Stillman, I’m not even kidding… I scare myself sometimes)

We’ve got some catchin’ up to do! Tank shakes off the rust and we go over four flicks that one or both of us have seen, “Safe House”, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”, “The Woman in Black” and “Chronicle”! Plus we do our weekly breakdown of the Dollars at the gates – the “Box Office Roundup”, before we eventually head into our feature discussion…

The Star Wars prequels.

Yes… In light of the recent rerelease of “The Phantom Menace”, the TanksterĀ and I revisit the eve of the original release of the second trilogy, discuss our reactions, and reflect on the CGI redos of the originals.

It’s ok, you can listen. No one gets hurt.

As always, you can find us on iTunes by searching for (title pending) or Tank and Fogs, or download the episode directly, here!

We’d also like to tell everyone that we now have a Facebook page for the podcast, and we’d love for you to hook us up with a “like”! If you have iTunes, we’re also really looking for people who would be willing to take a few moments to leave us a review, and let other people know what you think of the show! The more reviews we have, the better it reflects on us, so if you’d like to show your support, that’s one of the ways you can really help us out!

Meanwhile, have a listen and enjoy!

    • HEH.

Just pulled it up Gelf? And the “Tab Title” came up first and it said “Wooden Acting”. The page hasn’t even loaded, and I’m laughing… :D

Ohhhh yeah. This is good stuff. A must read for haters.

      I CONCUR!!

I could go ten more, I swear. :D

      • So I listened to the show and I had to laugh… half the things you were ranting about were things I had ranted myself on occasion! lol. It was like listening to myself! The only thing you didn’t say (which I’ve been known to say) is “GEORGE LUCAS RAPED MY CHILDHOOD!”
I’m perfectly fine with him monkeying with the Star Wars universe in anyway he sees fit, but leave me my original version! It doesn’t belong to him anymore, it belongs to the FANS! At least that’s how I see it. I have a very rare, and very low res version of “Star Wars ’77” (I also refuse to call it “Episode IV” or even “A New Hope”. The first time I saw it, at age 13 on OPENING NIGHT IN NYC with a line AROUND THE BLOCK, it didn’t say either of those things at the top…. but I digress…) which was transferred from an original laser disk and has Han Firing first. It looks like crap, but is still better than the Blu-Ray I received for xmas this year and still haven’t watched all the way through.

My only slight deviation from your most excellent rants was that you seemed at one point to be on the verge of making a disparaging remark about Willow. Willow is a great movie which Lucas was barely involved in anyway. He has a “story” credit, but didn’t write the screenplay, or direct or really mess-up in any significant way. Ron Howard directed it fer crying out loud!!

As far as whether Lucas is over-rated, I say now. He’s rightly rated as a terrible director. Always has been. He’s had some great ideas and some great collaborations but he’s a tarrible director.

      • Yeah, I didnt want to bag on Willow. But it’s pretty much one of the biggest non Star Wars post Star Wars feathers in Lucas’ hat. Unlike say, Spielberg, who after Jaws, Raiders, etc, went on to like a zillion different awesome flicks. It’s been a long time since I saw it, I didnt want to bag it… it’s, you know, it’s a conversation… a lot of times Ideas dont get fully explored. Which is why its cool to have stuff like this, man FEED back. :D

I mean, we’re speaking the same language here on the movies, but if you’re going to check back in on this one buddy, my disagreement with you is that Lucas has NOT always been considered a hack director. In fact, he was considered a genius at one time. Much like Spielberg got a lot of credit for some movies he didnt direct (Goonies, Gremlins – note I didnt say Poltergeist), Lucas was pretty much given all the credit for the original trilogy, the directors back then were treated like “Directors”. You know? And in all honesty, I dont know the whole deal.

I do know that post original trilogy, Lucas has nothing much to show for himself in terms of being a good director, so…. I say “Hack”, but it definitely wasnt always my thinking.

Glad you checked out the show, I hope you enjoyed it man. Its nice to know you gave it a listen. ;)

    • We were going to go longer with it actually, but we felt that that was sufficient.

I’m also aware of the inherent irony in titling something “Title Pending”.

But hey, we’d probably listen to suggestions…

  1. You guys are great! Tank and Fogs! Professional, entertaining, and completely informative. Great work guys, will most certainly listen from now on. ‘Liked’ your Facebook page as well!

  2. You two work so well off each other. Youir laughter is contagious. Really enjoyed your podcast, even if you were rusty !!

  3. I finally got to give this a listen, and I quite enjoyed it. Anytime people wanna bash the Star Wars prequels I’m a happy camper.

Tank seems like a pretty smart cat, except for the fact that he doesn’t like There Will Be Blood, for that he must be destroyed :P

    • LOL. We are kicking around the “Love it or Loathe it” episode, where we square off on opposite sides on a movie. That was going to be one of them…

So if it ever comes together, lol, yeah, I’ll give him what for!!

Thanks as always for listening PG, we appreciate the support!!!
