Tossin’ It Out There: What Are YOUR Favorite Movies About Sickness?

So. I was rockin’ the fever pretty bad this week. Felt a little like Cameron Frye, except Ferris wouldn’t have been able to do a damn thing to help. LOL.

And, as such, I figured, well, we might as well cover this base for our discussion series. What are YOUR favorite movies regarding sickness, illness, battling death, etc…There’s a number of movies out there that revolve around getting ill – 50/50 being the most recent that springs to mind – and many more that have someone’s illness as a subplot.

I’ve never been the hugest fan of the subgenre. Personally? Who wants to be sick? So why do you want to WATCH people be sick in the movies?

But its undeniable that the subject has made their mark on the movies, and so, we discuss!

What are YOUR favorite movies involving illness?

  1. Liked the book better than the movie, but my fav is “Love Story” with Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal. “Love is never having to say you’re sorry.”

  2. This is proving more difficult than I thought… I don’t get sick often, and apparently I don’t watch sickness films often either. How about Unbreakable? Does that count? I mean, it’s got “Mr. Glass”, and a part of the plot is about the absence of sickness… can we get a waiver from the judges? No? :D

At any rate, I hope you’re feeling better.

  3. Memento.

    Also, Tombstone, Doc Holliday subplot.

Two of my favorite movies; this one was easier than I originally thought it would be. Ironically, when I first read “favorite movies about sickness,” I thought, “Eh….least favorite genre….movies about sickness make me go a big rubbery one. Wait a second. A big rubbery one. Chloe. Fight Club starts with a whole bunch of sickness groups. And then there’s Jack’s raging bile duct. And the fact that he is schizo. Fight Club counts, right? My favorite movie *is* a sickness movie!”

But with these judges….I don’t think I’ll press my luck. ;)
