Follow Fridays: The Warning Sign!

Thank God it’s Friday, people!

Today’s “Follow Fridays” is our buddy Eric, over at “The Warning Sign”.

TWS is a great spot for movie discussion. There’s a healthy commenting community (as many of you know!) and a great opportunity to comment on a wide range of classic films, primarily due to Eric’s decision to select a large number of important/influential flicks, watch ‘em, and chronicle the journey.

His “Movie Project”.

“Due to the overwhelming success of my initial Movies Project, I decided to do a second round for 2012. This time around I put a greater emphasis on directors I am not familiar with, but I also tried to compile a mix of different genres and eras. This will be an ongoing project with the finish date being sometime this year.”

I can vouch for the fact that the first “Movie Project” was a tremendous success, I enjoyed reading them, went back and read a lot of the archived ones, and they all drew out a lot of participation from visitors. I was happy to see he decided to continue it again!

So far in 2012’s version, he’s looked back at “Vanishing Point”, “Blow Out”, “M”, and “Modern Times”. As you can see, he covers a diverse selection of classic movies to spotlight. It’s very enjoyable to follow along.

He also reviews current movies, and has a “Poll of the Week” for people to vote on/debate. You’ll also find reviews of video games, books… and beer. Yep, beers.

Eric has done a great job creating a fun site to visit and has seen a nice commenting community develop. He does a great job of promoting discussion via the comments, and is always very responsive! Some of his “Movie Project” movies needed a little more love than he gave them, but I straightened him out ;)

So if you’re looking for a great new blog this weekend… and you want to be sure your leisure time is well covered (movies, video game AND beers :D) head on over to “The Warning Sign” and check it out! Tell him Fogs sent ya! :D

    • “Not a bad site but I like yours better.” Ha! Well, hopefully, that’s always the case :D

But there’s a lot of great stuff out there, and a lot of people have a ton of blogs in their surfing routine, so I want to do my best to point out the good ones, especially if they’re blogs I check out…

  1. Fogs sent me. Didn’t see all the movies listed. Of the ones I saw, I have 4 favs: Some Like It Hot with the beautiful, Marilyn; The Machinist with Christian Bale, whom I didn’t recognize at first; The Apartment with one of my favorite female leads, Shirley MacClaine; and The Wild Bunch one of the most violent movies of it’s time, but mesmerizing to watch with so many stars at that time.

    • Hi Connie, thanks for taking a look at The Warning Sign! Those four movies are all great and yet so different from each other. I still can’t believe Christian Bale’s excessive weight loss for The Machinist — he looked so sickly it was hard to watch. The Apartment is what impressed me most last month; it may be my new favorite from Wilder. Thanks for commenting, and I hope to see you around!

  2. Looks like a great blog… I read a few of the “Movie Project” reviews and enjoyed them, so I’ve subscribed to the site. Fogs, thanks for bringing this one to our attention. Eric, keep up the good work!

  3. TWS is the bomb! You can get Eric’s opinion on movies but also on the latest video games and music. And Eric is always good at responding to comments and following up on your blog if you have one.

    • Haha thanks Castor! I love having the freedom to write about anything and everything, especially since movies are just one of my passions. I am grateful to have you as a regular reader!

  4. I love reading Eric’s reviews and his opinions are written so well and there’s a style and depth to his writing that I really get behind. Great spotlight!
