New Episode of The (title pending) Movie Podcast with Tank and Fogs!!

Alright! We’re back! Another awesome episode of TPMP in the can!

This week, Mr (Tank) Tanski and I go over the two biggest releases – “John Carter” and “Silent House”, and I throw in my two cents on the latest Eddie Murphy stinker “A Thousand Words”.

It was an interesting week at the box office, too, there were definitely some surprises in this week’s “Box Office Roundup”, so check it out!

And then for our feature discussion, Tank and I take turns throwing out some sci-fi suggestions for you. In honor of “John Carter” we felt it appropriate to recommend a wide variety of movies, covering the sci-fi spectrum. We’ve got cheesy movies, hidden gems, hardcore classics… the only ones we stay away from are the big blockbusters like Star Wars and Star Trek, etc… You already should have seen THOSE. :)

It’s another great episode for you, we hope you enjoy it! You can download it directly here or look for us on iTunes! If you do check us out via iTunes, please remember to give us a rating and a review, those really help us out! :D

You can find us on Facebook here in order to follow all the goings-on with TPMPĀ all week long!

  1. Excellent episode! I will visit TPMP on Fb…..but to sum it up…

it gets a “sTPMP of Approval” from me (unless that has been trademarked already) :)

      • Numbers are nice. If you have a good time doing the show, which always sounds like you do, people will listen. You can always weed out the pods were people are just trying to make an impression. Hate that. You guys know your stuff and you have a good time. That’s a formula for great podcast. I’m hooked and will probably forever check out what Tank and Fogs have to say when I’m determining if a flick is worth a spot in my queue!

  2. I can’t wait to listen to this discussion when I get home. Another great excuse…oh, I mean, “break” from studying. LOL Midterms can take a backburner for a moment. There are more important things in life, right?

    • You dont want to take scholastic advice from Me, Jen.

      Movies? Maybe.

      School? No.
      :D

Thanks as always for listening. Hope you enjoy – if you have any feedback, post it up here or the fb page so Tank can see too!!

  3. Big fan of TPMP; another fine one. Recall Krull fondly. Though Tank was referring to a different movie Queen did the music for called Highlander, “there can be only one.”

    • Mmm?

      Must. Figure that out.

In his defense (and, LOL, I’m usually the one with the brainfarts) It’s tough to roll through a whole convo and not crosswires somewhere. :)

Thanks for the listen and the feedback though. It’s a lot of fun to do and we’re slowly whipping it into shape. Keep in mind we’re still rough around the edges cause we’re still just starting out!

      • i’m just kidding (left off my ‘LOL’-sorry); I was unaware that Queen did the soundtrack for Flash Gordon. Why wouldn’t they do more soundtracks as they are one of the great bands of all time. Rough edges is great; it add to the luster of what JGross was saying about you guys are having fun casting, and it reflects a very fun tone for the listener (me or whomever). What your doing in excellent; keep having fun. Really enjoy it! :-)

      • Well, sweet!

Trust me though, it’ll get better. There’s little things that will solidfy along the way that people probably wont even pick up on. For example, this week’s “Box Office Roundup” sound effect wound up getting a “Fade in” accidently. Didnt even realize it til I listened, then I remembered how it probably happened. Its growing pains stuff like that that will improve…

As to the TONE… well, that’ll never change really. Tank and I will still be who we are.

  4. Good show guys. Some real good recommendations at the end (well, except for the Last Starfighter… cant really get on board with that one. lol), but Buckaroo Bonzai is one of my all time faves. I’ve still been known to yell out: “Laugh-a while you can, monkey-boy.”
    ;)

    • Whorfin / Lizardo is probably STILL my favorite role of Lithgows.

I even went back over his filmography quickly to double check I wasn’t forgetting anything.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it even though I know we dont see eye to eye on JC.

      • See, I gave you a pass, didn’t bring it up and you had to pour salt in the wound. At least you did point out that the marketing was one of the things which really killed it. I was growling when you compared it to Green Lantern though.

      • Heh. Well… occupational hazard bro. Pissing people off with your opinions.

Actually, GL premieres on cable this weekend. Looking forward to writing up a “Now Showing on Cable” for it and getting people’s opinions on it on Monday. :)

  5. Listening to your description of John Carter makes me think that Superman must have been based off of John Carter. You are right about how Star Wars is more fantasy by the way. It is definitely a fantasy film before a sci-fi film, but people let the spaceships fool them.
But doesn’t Dark City have a little bit of fantasy to it, with the main characters ability?

      • Oh yeah? You got some movie based board games too? Thats cool. LOL

I dont know about Dark City running into fantasy… Noir/Detective maybe, but there’s too many aliens and experiments and weirdness to go fantasy I think on that one Ian.

Star Wars its right out there, there’s swordfights, a captive princess, and a villain in dark armor!

      • Well, not so much movie based board games. Just board games in general.
And as for Dark City, I don’t know the Cuning ability that the main character has is a bit on the air of fantasy.
