New Episode of The (title pending) Movie Podcast with Tank and Fogs!! – The Hunger Games

Boom! Another episode of (title pending) for your enjoyment! This time, we talk about – what else? – “The Hunger Games”!

It had a titanic opening weekend at the box office, and was really the only major new release. That’s ok, because Tank and I have you covered, putting the box office success it had into perspective, clearing up the comparisons between it and “Battle Royale”, talking about the book to movie comparisons, and of course, reviewing the film!

Then in this week’s “Extra Features”, we list some of our favorite battle scenes! It’s another awesome episode, check it out!!

You can download the episode directly here, or search for us on iTunes! If you do use iTunes, please take a moment and leave us a rating and a review! It helps us out a lot! A big thank you to Fredo and Brian (of Filmyarn.com and Dearfilm.net, respectively) who each left us a review in the past couple of days!

  1. Nice pcast on Hunger Games, etc. A 3rd best of all time revenues on opening weekend is a HUGE feat and illustrates your ‘the story matters’ post earlier though strong cast across the board; I will definitely have to catch in theaters at some point.

A side note- Tank briefly mentioned “Goon” a Jay Baruchel collaboration with Sean William Scott (Baruchel and his cowriter Evan Goldberg of Superbad). Based on the book Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey (by Adam Frattasio and Doug Smith) is directed by Canadian Michael Dowse.
For what it is a sports story about an enforcer (player paid to punch/ protect teammates) who’s a real nice guy, it definitely is entertaining start to finish. This film is raunchy & very violent (some hilarious) with some nudity & brief drug reference. Two parts Slapstick, one part Waterboy, and half a Mighty Duck. Rotten Tomatoes gives this a 79% freshness rating. [didn't know where else to mention this movie - it was on Universal HD 3/28 back to back to back.] This is an enjoyable film especially if you like sports movies.

    • I’m sure I’ll catch it eventually, as it’s new… I just checked and its not playing locally near me this weekend. I like Sean William Scott, looking forward to the return of Stiffler in American Reunion. Thought he was the lone birght spot of “Cop Out”

Probably have to wait til its a “Now Showing on Cable” to check it out now.

I appreciate the compliments on the podcast. Glad you enjoyed it… we’re trying to raise our game slowly but surely. :D

  2. Good battle choices. I don’t really have any others to add…
I guess there’s the battle in Paths of Glory, which is notable since only one side is ever shown, yet it still holds a lot of intensity. Spartacus had some good battle scenes, and the sea battle in Ben Hur was pretty great stuff.
But I think that Helm’s Deep probably takes the crown here.

    • Those three Lord of the Rings movie have some of the best battle scenes ever filmed. Just spectacular.

“Helms Deep” gives new meaning to epic filmmaking. I mean, incredible. :D Good choice…

I have to see “Paths of Glory”, I took a beating on that last week in the war movie thread, as I’m sure you recall. LOL
