FMR Mark II

Just a quick note to let everyone know that this weekend will be dedicated to giving the site a little bit of a re-design as we head into year two. Giving the blog a bit of a new look every now and then will be important, I think, so that things never seem “Old”, and perhaps we can do a little better than I did when I was just starting out.

I’m engaging the services of our web designing friend Jaina Mistry, so hopefully things will go smoothly and wont look as hack as when I put them all together. :DĀ

This is going to push my posts from this weekend off, though. Normally I get a lot of writing done during the time I’ll be working on this, so reviews of “Ted” and “Magic Mike” will be up Monday, and no MTESSĀ this week. Tuesday we’ll be back on track with your regularly scheduled “Tossin’ It Out There” and we’ll move on from there!

If you’re swinging through over the weekend, please forgive the mess, I’m sure there will be times when things will be all discombobulated around here.

Bear with me, and we’ll be open again after renovation on Monday!

  1. Can I request something? How about the ability to collapse and expand responses? Or just show a couple lines as a header and then the ability to collapse/expand. This would make scrolling the page a bit faster.

  2. Allow me to be the first to say I hate the new design. I haven’t seen the new design, and I have no particular attachment to the old design. I just want to be the first to say I hate it. Because you know there’s always that crowd when changes are made. :D

Nah, I’m sure whatever Jaina and you come up with will look great. She’s got talent, and you’ve got a modicum of taste, so it should all be good. ;)

    • LOL.

That CRACKED me up. :D That was a good one.

It’s not going to be wildly different. I think the theme we chose (Theme Min) is going to be similar enough to be familiar, but new enough to be a little different.

We’ll see how it goes, you know how it is… you never quite know what you get until you get there.

  3. I am so excited to see what it looks like! As someone who wants to change the design of his site every few weeks (but refrains) – I am excited for you.

    Good luck!

  4. Looking forward to Mark II!! I can’t tell you how awesome it is that you threw in that Iron Man reference!

Have a good weekend. You picked a good weekend to do that instead of trying to find some satisfaction from the mediocre theatrical releases. :)

    • I know, right, this weekend is shite at the theatre isnt it?

But Dan The Man just gave Magic Mike a good grade, and Ryan at the Matinee said Ted was fun, so… hey, maybe we’ll be surprised T, who knows?

At least I’m not going through a domain change… I can only imagine the pain you went throgh with that.

      • Woke up this morning to the “Tribune” reviews, they never like nothin’, and “Ted” and “Magic Mike” almost 4 starred. Could not believe. Must be some strong Owsley acid out there!

      • that was indeed a HUGE pain! But it worked out thanks to the support of many great friends like yourself! Can’t wait to see what you got. I am actually not venturing to see a new release this weekend, BUT…

MOONRISE KINGDOM just arrived at my theater! Def checking that out!

        Have a good wknd man.

    • LOL… you wanna hear something funny? As I went to this screen to screencap this I saw that marquee and I thought, “Man, if I had some photoshop skills, putting FMR instead of Spinal Tap would be great!”

One day, I shall run that gag. :D

  5. Here’s hoping I can kick WordPress’ ass and not let it kick mine.

Yes, I originally said ARSE and not ASS, but then I told Fogs “there’s not a buggering thing you can do about that!”, forgetting he had the ability to edit commenters comments!

    Lol :D :D

    Muahhhhh ha ha ha!!

  6. Wait. You mean I have to wait until Monday to find out which of the Magic Mike strippers was Fogs’ favorite?

Good luck with the redesign. I’m sure it will look wonderful with Jaina in charge!

  7. Sweet. Always good to spice things up now and then. So does this mean you are moving to self hosting, or are you sticking with a wordpress.com account? Either way, looking forward to what Jaina comes up with!

    • Right now, staying free WordPress.

Still small time enough where the beneifts of WP hosting outweigh the costs of self hosting.

They do ads without me having to do anything, I could be freshly pressed… right now, I want to stay with that.

But the move to self hosting IS eventually inevitable. Definitely

  8. I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem *may* have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being *crushed* by a *dwarf*. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object.
