Tossin’ It Out There: Plug Your Blog

plugOk, everyone, here we go! Once again, Fogs flirts with folly, as I decide to live on the wild side and open this thread up to people link dumping and plugging their own sites!

In light of my second straight nomination for Best Community Builder, and stolen from following 3Guys1Movie’s last “Hump Day Have Your Say” topic, where they courted links and requested blog recommendations, I felt it might be a good idea to do some community building and let bloggers have a chance to tout their own sites. Hopefully, it will give us all a chance to find some more blogs and get to know each other a little better.

Could this blow up in my face? Yesssss, yes, it could. LOL :D I can easily think of three or four ways this could wind up in disaster.

Here’s the catch! If you drop a link to your blog (and you can be as verbose as you like in trying to entice visitors) YOU HAVE TO BE ON YOUR HONOR YOU WILL VISIT ANOTHER BLOG POSTED HERE! (Preferably one you’ve never visited before.) I think it’s only fair, and if we put that in place, it will up the chance of people actually visiting others, and seeing some actual referals out of this!

Now, for those of you who don’t blog, this will be a fine opportunity for you to find other blogs and see what they’re all about. Feel free to comment on any comments that you like, but please, let’s be supportive, ok? ;)

So! Let’s hear it. Tell us about your blog. Drop a link to your favorite article, or your homepage. Tell us why you started blogging, or why you keep blogging, or what you hate about blogging, it’s up to you. Dont say anything, and just dump a link! That’s fine too. For everyone that reads and visits, let’s show that FMR Community spirit by taking a minute and clicking through and visiting some new folks!

Ok, that’s it! Let’s have at it! Plug your blog!

  1. Thanks for the opportunity, Fogs. First off, gotta say your blog is one of the best I visit on a regular basis and well deserved for all the Lamb noms.

It’s simple, folks. If you grew up in the 80s or just like 80s nostalgia, check out http://www.rediscoverthe80s.com

Rediscover 80s music, movies, TV, cartoons, toys, fads, and pop culture in general. Oh and a podcast ala VH1′s I Love The 80s is in the works with Tank and Fogs featured on the first panel. Check it out!

  2. Thanks for the chance to plug, Fogarty (I envy your last name).

Well, everyone. Let’s say hello to each other! My blog is called “Film Police.” I bust the films that are only fit to get busted. I appreciate what needs to be appreciated. But really, I just couldn’t think of any other names.

I’m Armando, which is a Spanish name, I think. But hermano, I’m Asian. From the Philippines.

I like coffee and banana. I’m caffeine-overdosed and thus sleep-deprive. I devote most of my time in watching films and reading lit. If you care to join my adventures, click:

I mean it. Click now. Or I’ll peel the skin off of you! Ha! Kidding. Or not! Hehe see u everyone!

    • “I envy your last name” I can tell, I picked up on something going on there… ;)

Hey though, no threatening people, come on now! Thats My job around here. LOL 8O

Pretty sure Armando is a Spanish name too. Spanish name/Philippino blogger. Thats cool. Works for me at least!

      • I live to scare the shite out of people. I’m two parts Stephen King, three parts “Bruce” (from Jaws) and a pinch of Norman Bates to taste.

Anyway, thanks again, Fogarty! Just dropped off my votes for you.

    • Yeah, I pity the fool too. [Mr. T Voice] Wont be any quick knockdowns if they dont. I’m going to toruture them, I’m going to crucify them. Real Bad. [/Mr. T Voice] :D

Glad to hear you’re taking to the spirit of this thing, Vic. Hope some people stop through and check out your site, too!!

  3. As always–YOU ROCK, FOGS!!

Okay–I will plug–but let be known that I am not as prolific as you are in posting (time and life seem to get in the way…a lot! :D). But, I love the small community I have found and would love to find more new friends.

    http://www.nediunedited.com

Who is nediunedited? A lover of cinema since the age of seven! All kinds–all genres. Films (TV and Books, too) have shaped my life–they were my escape, my inspiration and even my first role models. I do not rate my films in the traditional sense (no stars, grades, etc.)–instead I give you my opinion and my take on it–I do not give traditional plot summaries either, because I want you to go in clear–ready for your own experience. There is nothing better than discovering a fine film, without any other influence. (Personally, when I want to really see something I practice media shut out–I refuse to watch too many trailers, viral promos, reviews, etc–I have been known to cover my eyes and ears in the theater during trailers–LALALALA!) :)

That’s me–hope you come by and visit! I will definitely make the rounds and find some of you out there, too.

    Later, Fogs!

  4. Well, if you insist, heh. :P

I actually have followed all the blogs the 3 Guys posted in their post last week, so I’ll definitely check out any blogs posted here that looks interesting to me.

As for my own, This Is Madness: http://cwiddop.blogspot.com/
It was originally titled as such due to my tendency to have controversial opinions on things. Maddening, right? ;)

Originally I posted on just general topics, though in recent years the focus has shifted primarily to movies and movie reviews, with me dipping a little into a few personal projects I’m working on as well from time to time, such as my own movies or writing affairs.

So check it out if you’d like a different take on some of your favorite movies, and I look forward to scrolling through the comments here and clicking on some of these other links, too. :)

    • “Well, if you insist, heh.” I do, I do.

3 Guys had a great idea, Thats why I stole it from them! :D LOL (Waiting for Adam to come by later tonight and see how he reacts) Its ok, tell me “Hump Day” wasn’t their version of “Tossin’ It Out There” anyways ;) !

I appreciate you taking to the spirit of this, Chris. Hope you come across some good new connections!

  5. http://themotionpictures.net
I post something every day (whether it be a review, a list, some other sort of feature) and my blog’s focus is generally on classic film. I post a little bit of newer films and classic television, too. I started blogging because I’ve always loved writing, and none of my friends in the real world like classic film as much as I do, so I wanted a place to spew my thoughts about the films I was watching.

I’ll be visiting all of the blogs that post here and thanks Fogs for letting us shamelessly promote ourselves. :)

    • I can vouch for the quality over there at TMP, Lindsey. You do a great job, run a great looking site, and I love the content, too. Yours is the only classic blog I subscribe to. (I should find other too though, huh? :( )

Meanwhile, no problem. Half of this is shameless promotion on my own part anyways, I’ll freely confess ;) But it is a good idea and hopefully everyone gets to make a new connection or two.

      • There are so many great classic film blogs — I’m sure you’ve seen some of the ones that are LAMB members, but let me know if you’d like any recommendations!

      • Oh yeah? [Mobster voice] Le0p says you’re alright… shrugs. Alright, then I guess you’re alright, kid. [/mobster voice] :D

Dont forget to click around though, alright JD. Hoping that people who’d like people to check out THEIR blog will be willing to do the same for others!

  6. Wow Fogs, goin’ the distance :)
I’m already following a couple more blogs! I haven’t started following any new ones in a while, so it’s good to get some more in the mix. And now I have my right to link back to my blog! (Maniacal laugh…)
My blog is The Soul of the Plot (http://thesouloftheplot.wordpress.com/) and supposedly I review books and movies but I’ve only done one book review since starting up last October so I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s a movie blog. I recently finished “Tarantino Tuesday” where I reviewed films directed by Tarantino, ending with Death Proof yesterday. I’m starting up “Fincher Friday” this week with my review of Se7en, and Fight Club is coming up next Friday! I’ll have to put it on hold during May though, because I’m doing a sci-fi movie marathon for the month of May. I’ll review sci-fi films all month long (except for The Great Gatsby when it comes out), and the highlight will be reviews of all the original Star Trek movies and the reboot, leading up to Star Trek Into Darkness (which I will hopefully be attending a midnight showing of).
I generally get out four to five reviews per week, and have a quote of the day everyday where I post a picture and a quote and everyone guesses what movie it’s fun. I haven’t done many top tens or ranking yet, but I’m working on a few at the moment. Today’s review is on The Cabin in the Woods, and I hope anyone who’s interested will come check it out, and subscribe and/or comment as they see fit!
Thanks for the opportunity Fogs! Love talking about my blog :)

    • “Wow Fogs, goin’ the distance” LOL gotta do what I can, you know, Melissa? Love the (Maniacal Laugh) btw, I’m a big fan of 2011′s “The Muppets” :D

I can vouch for Hunter’s site. Love “The quote of the Day”, and she’s constantly posting great reviews of excellent films.

Actually, now that I think of it, you should branch out and review a couple of really awful, garbagey movies, like I do! They’re fun! :D

  7. Brilliant idea–thanks for the opportunity!

http://www.onthescreenreviews.com is operated by myself and co-blogger Tippi. I reign from New Orleans (trying to represent the Hollywood of the South!), while Tippi relocated to DC. We both post movie reviews, movie/show rants and dissect old and new movies alike! Our writing is completely different from each other, and our taste in movies vastly different. We’re relatively new at this too, so we’re still learning.

I’m always looking for new blogs to follow, so I intend on grabbing a handful from here! Thanks :)

    • No problem Courtney, thank YOU for joining in! Glad to hear you’re going to be checking out some links here! :D

Blogging is always a learning process, there’s always a way to get better or be better at it. I know I’m picking up stuff constantly, even coming up on two years now. 8O

Thanks again for chiming in! :D

  8. Thanks for tossing a dime to the huddled masses, Fogs. LOL, jk. Your awesome!

Let There Be Movies is a blog where me and some buddies write movie reviews from a Christian male’s perspective. We draw out the good, just and righteous attributes of movies and/or their characters and encourage our readers to cling to those things in their own lives. In short, we try to find God in Hollywood!

    Check us out: http://LetThereBeMovies.wordpress.com

    • HAHAHA! Lol… Dick! :D Heh, Funny stuff, Gene, funny stuff.

There’s a slogan I heard once that I like… God is in the profane AND the profound. If you only see God in the profound, you’re missing half the picture. ;)

Nice theme though, hope you meet some new bloggers and make some connections today!

  9. Ha! You just had to do this when I’m on semi-hiatus, didn’t you? And giving me a bunch of links to follow through on when I have a backlog. Splendid timing, Fogs, just splendid. :D

Anyway, my blog (with regular content resuming soon) is Morgan on Media. Movie reviews three or four times a week, usually vintage films. A rundown of entertainment news on Friday, discussion on notable music videos on Monday. General discussion topics on other days.

Updates this past week or two have been scarce due to recovering from a minor health issue, but regular seven-days-a-week posting should resume soon.

    • LOL!! Hey. Listen. This post is too much about ME to be about YOU. Ok? I have Community Builder muscles to flex! :D

Glad to see you’re feeling well enough to get out and about at least. ;)

Hopefully everyone around here has swung through to Morgan on Media anyways, but if they haven’t, they should. Lots of great essays, great news, and your Favorite Films series is a Best Running Feature snub by the Lammys as far as I’m concerned, those are great great columns!

      • Yeah, I’m feeling quite a bit better. Little sore, but compared to the way the tooth was acting, it’s hardly even noticeable. Haven’t even needed the painkillers. I think if it weren’t for the periodic “Sleep RIGHT NOW” impulses I’d be right back in the swing of things.

I appreciate the kind words, especially about the FF series. I don’t feel snubbed, though; I know there’s a lot of competition out there on that award in particular. It’s all good.

I haven’t yet swung by your award announcement post, but congratulations on all the noms!

  10. Hello, I’m DAVID BARUFFI, and my blog is “DAVID BARUFFI’S ENTERTAINMENT VIEWS AND REVIEWS! We strive for an intelligent, observant and thoughtful analysis of the film, television and entertainment world. This includes my RANDOM WEEKLY MOVIE REVIEWS, my CANON OF FILM blog, where we take a close look at a essential/great film, as well as my commentaries and critical essays about the goings-on in the entertainment world, where we strive to take a different perspective than other blogs, and think consider and think more observantly on a wide-variety of subjects, trying to see things, from more creative and thoughtful perspectives than others. We also have fun too here.
You can follow me on twitter @DavidBaruffi_EV

    and my blog is at:
    http://davidbaruffi.blogspot.com.

“DAVID BARUFFI’S ENTERTAINMENT VIEWS AND REVIEWS” and we’re not-at-all pissed off that we didn’t get a LAMMY nomination, despite the fact that we’re so much better than everyone else. Not at all.

Thanks Dan for the plug opportunity, and (biting teeth) congratulations.

    • Heh! :D Well, more than happy to give folks the chance to plug their stuff David, Lammy snubees or no! ;)

You have the right attitude for it though, you should do well going forward! :D

Click around, man, meet some other folks here and hopefully they’ll swing through and check out your MASSIVELY, UNFAIRLY UNDERRATED BLOG too :D

      • LOL, well thank you, for acknowledging the greatness of my blog. :). And I will check out the others, I follow many of them already in some form. Oh, and I really do enjoy you’re blog rather immensely, especially these “Throwing it Out There” ideas. I’ve been trying to get my readers to respond and throw out ideas for my blog, but they almost never reply, and you get so many responses. Anyway, thanks for letting me plug. :D

  11. Reblogged this on It Rains… You Get Wet and commented:
Our colleague Fogs going above and beyond call of blogging by setting up platform for community building. Want to see what’s out there and interests you, check out this post. Well worth the time going through the links.

    • Le0p13, everyone!

BTW… I dont think Le0p is a Lammy, but if he was, he’d be a shoo-in for the Best Community field, too. Seriously, he puts me to shame sharing other people’s stuff. The man is the King.

Check him out and follow him; it’s a recipe not only for good content from him, but a conduit to Class A material from others!

      • Stop, I’m turning red with embarrassment ;-). Very kind of you to say, my friend. I did though apply for a LAMB membership earlier this year. But what’s that quote from Groucho Marx:

“I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.”

        Thanks, Fogs :D

      • Ah. I bet they must have put the brakes on new meberships around the Lammys. They usually have a backlog anyways.

I know that line well, btw, ;) used it myself from time to time. The Lamb is a bit of an exception though, I think you’d fit in well there, and it would be a boon to “It Rains” as well.

    • No problem Cindy. Love to spread the word about other blogs, it’s always a lot of fun.

Hope you find some great new blogs to read and that some other folks find your blog and connect with it as well! :D
