Hello, and welcome to another edition of The (title pending) Movie Podcast! Sorry we’re late this week folks, it’s on me, I haven’t been up to my usual YAH! strength.
In this week’s episode, the Tankster and I break down a very surprising week at the box office, then go into our featured reviews of the week – “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance”, and “This Means War”!
But the prime real estate here is our Oscar preview… Mr Tanski and I go over all the major categories, breaking down the contenders and making our predictions! We also cover the “who we’d like to win even though they dont have much of a chance”s. Call it our Oscar Preview Special, if you will.
As always, it’s an entertaining podcast full of movie related goodness from your hosts, Tank and Fogs. You can download or play the episode directly from our Buzzsprout page HERE, or search for us and/or subscribe on iTunes!
Trust me when I say that I’m trying to take this movie in the spirit in which it’s intended.
Because, I realize this flick is losing half of the nation’s critics right from the get go with its kind of irreverant style of handheld film making and in your face juvenile humor…
But I can’t help but feel like “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” missed the mark by being a little safe. It’s like they tried to infuse the “Crank” style into the film, but with a PG-13 rating, which thus eliminates a LOT of the “Crank” content. (The directing team, for those unaware, did both films)
The Holidays being over, Hollywood now nestles into its burrow to await March, hibernating during the cold winter months. The cinematic highlights of January and February are typically the movies which were “released” in the prior year, but are only trickling out to cineplexes now.
As to NEW releases?
Let’s just say I hope you saved your nuts, my squirrely friends. :D Remember our “Tossin’ It Out There” thread from a few days back which asked which movies you were looking forward to the most in 2012? Scant few of these were mentioned there.
That’s not to say nothing’s happening! There’s new movies every week… Let’s take a look and see what Hollywood expects to hold us over between now and Spring…
Back from my day at New York Comic-Con. Got up yesterday at 5:00 am, got home at a little after 1:00 am. I used my own car, two trains, a cab and a bus to get there and back. We waited in line for about three hours out of the day, sat through numerous panels we didn’t care anything about, but at the end of the day, I got to get Stan Lee’s autograph, I saw unseen footage from the upcoming “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance”, presented by directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, got to see an awesome scene from season two of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” presented by the cast, and got to see an entire scene from next year’s “The Avengers”, a full 6 months before it gets released.
