The 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards: Best Picture Nominees

And now, for our final category of the 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards, I present to you the nominees for the Best Picture of 2011.

I saw a ton of movies in theatres this year, and before posting this up, I tried to work in as many that I could that I had missed. My apologies, if I want to run these awards at year-end, films like “The Artist” and “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” – which haven’t worked their way into megaplexes yet, can’t be taken into consideration.

But a lot of good movies can! I’m psyched that I got to watch so many awesome flicks this year, and excited to present this post to you.

Here are the nominees for the 2011 FMR MAJOR Award for Best Picture.

The 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards: Worst Picture Nominees

I’m certain that every movie starts with the best of intentions. No Hollywood studio thinks the best way to MAKE money is to make you suffer. But every year, a handful of movies are hideously defective. Mutant creations, aberrations which offend the sensibilities.

These are the abominations of 2011.

Only the strong of stomach should click “Continue Reading”. Beyond… there be foulness.

And yes. I saw each and every one of these films – in their entirety – mainly in order to bring this post… to YOU.

The 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards: Best Director Nominees

Here we go, boys and girls. The nominees for the Best Director of 2011.

These are the people behind the lens. Its their vision that the movie brings to life. It’s like the old axiom about a quarterback, “They get too much credit when they win, and too much blame when they lose”.

But at least, for these five candidates, it’s definitely the winning side of the equation we’re talking about.

The 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards: Worst Director Nominees

Enclosed for your consideration are my list of Worst Directors of 2011. A word of note on this category. This, to me, was not an exercise in finding the Worst Pictures, and then selecting their directors. A lot of times, those crappy pics are helmed by directors taking a job because they’re looking for a break, or trying to pay their bills. They may get saddled with dogshit scripts and hack actors, but they take the gig anyways… And they almost certainly don’t have complete creative control.

The list compiled here are all name directors who had resources, clout and opportunity. These people had a shot to turn out a better pic, and they failed.

Miserably.

The 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards: Worst Actor Nominees

Ok, boys and girls. Hold your nose.

Here are my selections for the actors who tossed bricks up against the backboard in 2011. Clang. Their performances were bad enough to make me cringe. Not a single choice listed comes from a movie I’d consider “good” and they need to shoulder the lion’s share of the blame.

The 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards: Best Actress Nominees

Here are the list of the actresses currently under consideration for an FMR MAJOR Award in the Best Actress category.

Each of these ladies turned in a highly memorable performance in 2011, and they’re all worthy of praise. When I talk about their work in their respective movies, I cant help but get that respectful tone in my voice and say things like, “Yeah, she was great, wasn’t she?” or “God she was awesome!”

Of course, unfortunately, there can only be one winner.

The 2011 FMR MAJOR Awards: Worst Actress Nominees

Below are the candidates currently under consideration for the dubious distinction of winning a MAJOR Award for turning in one of the Worst performances of 2011. I cringed when they were onscreen. In their own ways, they each detracted from the quality of the movie they were in, regardless of how garbagey the movie was to begin with.
