Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton and other notable names star in a disastrous film about a disastrous wedding. Full of flat jokes and poor characters, all in support of a tired, hackneyed set-up, “The Big Wedding” is one you should just tell, “I don’t”.

Hey everyone, it’s Friday, time for another entry in the Reader Recommendations series!
The Reader Recommendation series is intended to help me formally pursue all the great films that commenters bring up each week in discussion which I’ve never seen. If there’s a movie that comes up that I haven’t seen, but you think I should, email me @
or let me know in the comments that you’d like to participate!
This time up, our movie recommendation comes from Terrence Faulkner over at the
, who’s suggested I give Steven Spielberg’s “Hook” another chance.
I saw “Hook” when it was first released and didn’t care too much for it. I’ve never revisited it. T has a strong affinity for it, though, and we’ve sparred a couple of times about it. So now I’m going to go back and give it a second look!
YES! We made it through the Winter Movie Season, where Hollywood unloads their junk on us, and now we’re headed into the Spring!
Spring is a time for mini-blockbusters, and movies that Hollywood hopes will have decent runs. Last year, “The Hunger Games” was released in March, for example, and we all saw how well that did!
Click through to see all the movies that this Spring Season has to offer!

I’ve been trying to think of a way to put this into words… I mean, that IS the trick of this whole thing after all.
“Happy Feet Two” is very pretty to look at, it has the requisite amount of “messages”. There are funny scenes and characters, and a decent enough storyline for an animated film. All the parts SHOULD be adding up to a better movie when I do the movie formula math in my head, but they don’t.
Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe its too calculated, too formulaic, over-produced.
Whatever it is, it doesn’t connect with me, and as a result it winds up feeling superficial.
