Tossin’ It Out There: Which movie props would YOU like to own?

One of the things I saw a LOT of at Comic-Con this week were screen worn costumes and authentic movie props. From Rocky’s gloves to Wolverine’s claws, there were tons and tons of props. Costumes too. Superman, Jor-El, Edward Scissorhands, Hellboy, Wolverine, Magneto, Professor X’s wheelchair… there’s more too, I mean, the place is loaded with them. Actual vehicles, too. The Batmobiles were on display, and the Bat Cycle was inside, as was KITT from Knight Rider and a rotating display of Bond vehicles.

Which got me thinking about this this week’s “Tossin’ it out there”. If money were no object, and you could own any prop from any movie ever… what would it be? Would it be “The Ruby Slippers”? They recently sold for $2 million. How about Indy’s whip, or hat? THE Maltese Falcon? The Milenium Falcon?Β It’s an endless list. So many awesome choices available to you. Maybe you’d want the actual costumes. Belushi’s toga, or Heath Ledger’s Joker costume. Vehicles more your thing? How about Brando’s motorcycle or Ecto One or Bond’s Aston Martin?

Money is no object when it’s all just make-believe folks, let’s hear it! What Movie Prop would YOU want to own?

  1. A lightsaber. Luke’s from ROTJ preferably. Wyatt Earp’s Model 1873
“Peacemaker” from Tombstone. William Wallace’s broadsword from
Braveheart. Any gun John Wayne used in any movie (preferably one of the
Model 92 Winchesters with the oversized lever). The bleachers from Field of Dreams.
Lou Gehrig’s uniform that Gary Cooper wore in “Pride of the Yankees”.
McQueen’s Mustang from Bullitt (I am a GM guy, but come on, that shit is cool!)\The mummified corpse of Toto (just seeing if you’re actually reading this). And lastly, the full size mock up of the X-Wing fighter, because, why not? Or the Viper from BSG if the X-Wing is in the shop.

    • Oh, Im reading it, LOL. Maybe we could hook Toto’s mummy up with some propellers, so he could fly, like that dude did with his cat. πŸ˜€

That’s a loaded shopping list there man, you could open a freaking movie museum if you had all of those!

  2. I actually not only have had an answer to this question I know where the actual prop is at this very moment and I’ve even played with the item in question.

You might remember that my older brother is a Prop Master, and as such maintains a warehouse with many props from movies he’s worked on in the past and has available for future shoots. Among the piles of furniture, weapons, armor etc is the guitar used in “Sweet and Lowdown”. This guitar in fact:
It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

  3. I’ve always wanted Indiana Jones’ hat and whip. I grew up watching Indy, so I would LOVE those items. If not, his father’s diary from Last Crusade would be cool too.

    • Heh. I don’t know if that’s what I’d choose there, just cause of all the ass jokes. πŸ˜€ I think I’d go with the briefcase, instead. Plus I’d finally get to see inside!

And thanks man, feels good to be back.

    • Wow, that’s the secong time in a few comments that Dr Jones’ notebook gets a shout out!

Just hit dinner with your bro. He’s looking like the wild man of Borneo nowadays! Gotta get that boy to a barber shop!

  4. I want that Scorpion Jacket from Drive, that blue war club from Last of the Mohicans, and the one ring to rule them all from LOTR

  5. From Star Wars (1977) , Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder

From Spy Who Loved Me (also 1977), Bond’s Lotus Esprit car with all the Q accessories..

  6. The Time Machine. Not the little one but the big one Rod Taylor sat in. Only 1 problem-no room to store it.

    • You funny πŸ˜€

They sell those props somewhere, I know I’ve seen ’em. Would be great to have the real thing though.

They did have John Hurt’s space suit from “Alien” on display there. I thought that was pretty sweet! πŸ˜€

  7. Fake penis from Boogie Nights.

    Kidding πŸ™‚

Probably Nina’s plush toys from Black Swan and talking teddy bear from AI.

  8. Hi Fogs, as I know you are a big James Bond fan, I’ve done a post asking what people’s favourite song is from the series. You should give it a look
