Privacy Policy

This page explains what happens to your information when you read Fogs Movie Reviews or write to us. We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it properly.

What we collect

There are only two ways your data reaches us.

  • By visiting the site. Like almost every website, ours records basic technical information when a page loads: the page requested, the time, your browser and device type, the referring page, and a general location derived from your IP address, usually no more precise than a city or region. We use analytics to see which articles are being read and whether anything on the site is broken.
  • By emailing us. If you write to hello@fogsmoviereviews.com, we hold your email address and whatever you put in the message, for as long as it takes to deal with it and for a reasonable period afterward so we have a record of the exchange.

Why we collect it

To keep the site working, to understand which pieces readers actually want, and to answer you when you write. That is the whole list. We do not build reader profiles, we do not sell or rent data to anyone, and we do not use your information to advertise to you elsewhere.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use them for two things: keeping the site functioning as you move between pages, and anonymous or aggregated analytics. If we ever run advertising or embed something that sets its own cookies, that will be disclosed here.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work; a few conveniences may not survive it.

Third parties

We rely on a small number of ordinary service providers to run a website: a hosting company, an analytics tool, an email provider and a content delivery network. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms, and none of them are given permission to use it for their own purposes.

Articles here sometimes link out or embed a trailer or clip from another platform. Once you click through or press play, that platform’s own privacy policy applies, not ours. We have no control over what they collect.

How long we keep things

Analytics data is retained in aggregate and is not tied to a named individual. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful and deleted when it is not. If you ask us to delete your messages, we will, unless we have a legal reason to hold them.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, data protection law gives you the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. Those rights are free to exercise and we will not make it difficult. Write to hello@fogsmoviereviews.com and say what you want done.

You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority if you think we have handled your information badly. We would rather you told us first, so we can fix it.

Children

This is a general-audience site about films. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page. Material changes will be flagged at the top rather than slipped in quietly.
